TEHRAN — Masoud Pezeshkian said Iran will halt attacks on neighboring countries unless an attack on Iranian territory originates from them, following missile and drone strikes reported across several Gulf states.
In a prerecorded address broadcast on state television, the Iranian president apologized to regional countries after attacks early Saturday targeted locations in Qatar, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
“I must apologize on my own behalf and on behalf of Iran to the neighboring countries that were attacked by Iran,” Pezeshkian said in the televised statement.
He said Iran’s interim leadership council had decided to suspend further attacks against neighboring states unless strikes were launched against Iran from their territory.

According to Pezeshkian, the council agreed that no missiles would be fired toward neighboring countries unless Iran faced direct attacks originating from those states.
Shortly after the statement aired, Qatar’s defense ministry said its armed forces had intercepted and repelled a missile attack targeting the country.
The developments come amid escalating tensions across the Middle East following ongoing military confrontations involving Iran and other regional and international actors.
