Iran has granted special permission to two Pakistani vessels to transit through the Strait of Hormuz, according to shipping sources.

The sources said that Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) vessel Multan and a chartered ship P Leki have successfully exited the Strait. The chartered vessel is carrying approximately 85 million litres of crude oil, and both ships are expected to reach Pakistan on March 31.

According to reports, the two vessels had been stranded in the Persian Gulf for nearly a month following the start of regional tensions. They began their journey through the Strait of Hormuz from near Gulf waters a day earlier.

Shipping sources added that Iran had approved a specific route for the safe passage of the vessels.

Previously, Pakistani ships have also transited the Strait of Hormuz with special permission from Iranian authorities.
