The Indian Premier League (IPL) has dropped to third place in the latest global T20 league standings, with England’s The Hundred emerging as the top-ranked competition, according to the World Cricketers’ Association (WCA).

The rankings highlight a shift in global cricket leagues, with the IPL maintaining its commercial dominance but facing criticism over player welfare and conditions, which impacted its overall standing.

The Hundred leads global rankings

The Hundred secured the top position with a score of 75.2 points, followed by South Africa’s SA20 in second place with 68 points. The IPL ranked third with 62.6 points, narrowly ahead of Australia’s Big Bash League at 62.5 points.

Pakistan Super League (PSL) was placed fifth with 48 points in the latest assessment.

Player welfare concerns impact IPL ranking

According to the WCA, the IPL needs to improve its approach to player rights and overall welfare to regain the top position. The report suggested that while the league remains financially dominant, it lags behind competitors in areas related to player treatment and working conditions.
