International Women’s Day observed at Frontier College for Women in Peshawar

PESHAWAR — An event marking International Women’s Day was held at Government Frontier College for Women in Peshawar on Saturday, bringing together students, educators and social activists to highlight the role and contributions of women in society.

The event was organized by Hum Log Organization in collaboration with the Directorate of Youth Affairs Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The ceremony took place at the college auditorium, where Principal Dr. Shaheen Umar welcomed guests and participants and appreciated the initiative aimed at promoting awareness about women’s role and rights.

Chairman of Hum Log Organization and President of Minority Forum Pakistan, Augustin Jacob, introduced the organization and outlined its objectives. He paid tribute to women worldwide, particularly those in Pakistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, for their contributions to social development.

Speakers including Naz Parveen, Bushara Furkah and Fiaza Shahzad addressed the gathering through speeches and poetry, highlighting the importance of women’s empowerment and their role in building a progressive and inclusive society.

Students of the college also presented skits depicting women’s participation in different fields and emphasizing their contributions to community development.

The chief guest, Dr. Azra Ghani, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Urology at Lady Reading Hospital, stressed the importance of respect, equity, diversity and inclusion in society. She commended the college administration and Hum Log Organization for organizing the event to recognize women’s achievements and promote awareness of their rights.
