SWAT: Directorate General of Science and Technology and Directorate of Archaeology and Museum Khyber Pakhtunkhwa jointly organized the Udyana 2.0 Seminar on Scientific Research and Study on Gandhara “Where Tradition, Technology and Innovation Meet” at Swat Museum Saidu Sharif in Swat district.
The seminar was attended by 40 international scholars from 14 various countries representing 19 globally renowned universities and institutions of the world.
Addressing the seminar, Assistant Professor of the Department of Archaeology, University of Swat, Dr. Zarawar khan said that organizing such a seminar would facilitate international cooperation and knowledge exchange on scientific research and studies of Gandhara civilization.
He said that there is a need to bring new insights into the history and culture of Gandhara by taking advantage of modern technology and research.
“Such an event provides a unique opportunity for local students to interact with international researchers and practitioners in the field,” he said.
Dr. Faisal Khan, representative of the Directorate General of Science and Technology, said that Gandhara is not only a symbol of our past but also an important area of focus under the science agenda, added that our vision is to advance scientific advancement in archaeology to preserve its heritage so that in the near future a research and development consortium can be established to enhance the scientific value of archaeology, which will encourage local and international collaboration.
Mrs. Zainab, while addressing the seminar, highlighted the historical and political aspects of the state of Swat.
On this occasion, Dislava Vendova and Elisa Aine briefed the participants in detail about the artifacts recovered from Swat archaeological sites.
The Field Supervisor of the Archaeology Department, Numan Anwar, Assistant Director Ahmad Faraz, Engineer Falak Naz, Dr. Taza Gul, Dr. Nadia Khan, and students of Swat University also participated in the seminar.
