An international team of veterinary experts has arrived at Karachi’s Safari Park to examine and treat Madhubala, an ailing elephant whose health has reportedly deteriorated significantly. The team will assess her condition and collect blood samples to help guide further treatment.
The team from Four Paws, led by Dr Amir Khalil, visited the park alongside Sri Lankan veterinarian Dr Badika. International specialists have also been providing guidance on Madhubala’s treatment through online consultations over the past several weeks.
Dr Amir Khalil said there was still hope for Madhubala’s recovery, but she required better treatment and intensive care. Pakistani and international experts are working together to address her medical problems, with immediate attention focused on stabilising her condition.
He said the team was concentrating on understanding Madhubala’s current health challenges rather than revisiting past mistakes. He added that it was too early to make a definitive assessment of her long-term recovery prospects.
According to Dr Khalil, the next stage of treatment would be considered once Madhubala regained the ability to stand and walk independently. He stressed that dedicated care and sustained efforts would be essential to her recovery.
Sources quoted in the report said Madhubala had been suffering from various illnesses since last year. Her condition had reportedly worsened due to prolonged illness, leaving her too weak to stand without assistance. Multivitamin medication has been administered since last month to help restore her strength.
Dr Khalil also highlighted the role of Madhubala’s sister, Malika, saying she looks after Madhubala and plays an important part in her care.
Experts have emphasised that coordinated efforts by everyone involved will be crucial in supporting Madhubala’s treatment and recovery.
