Annual interfaith Eid Milan party at Naulkha Presbyterian Church strengthens harmony

Lahore, March 25 — Leaders from diverse faiths and communities came together at the Naulkha Presbyterian Church for the annual Interfaith Eid Milan Party, hosted by Reverend Dr. Majeed Abel. The gathering drew prominent religious scholars, political figures, and civil society members, all united in their call for peace, tolerance, and national cohesion.

The event was attended by Chairman Ulema Council Pakistan Maulana Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi, Archbishop Azad Marshall, former provincial minister Ijaz Alam, parliamentary secretary Sonia Asher, former senator Kamran Michael, and Punjab Assembly members Tariq Masih Gill and Emmanuel Athar. Professor Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, Chairman Kul Maslak Board Maulana Asim Makhdoom, Mufti Ashiq Hussain, Professor Dr. Mahmood Ghaznavi, and other dignitaries also joined the celebration.

In his welcome address, Reverend Abel said Eid Milan gatherings are vital for promoting interfaith harmony, love, and national unity. He emphasized that Pakistan’s religious communities live together with mutual respect and brotherhood, and such events strengthen this tradition.

Maulana Tahir Ashrafi highlighted that interfaith harmony is the need of the hour, stressing that Islam teaches peace, love, and humanity. He noted that all religions share the common message of service to humanity and mutual respect. Archbishop Azad Marshall added that such occasions help bridge divides and praised the positive role of minorities in Pakistan.

Professor Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri prayed for peace and unity worldwide, acknowledging the difficult regional situation and urging collective efforts for stability. He also paid tribute to Reverend Abel for his 25 years of service in promoting interfaith dialogue. Maulana Asim Makhdoom echoed the importance of unity and brotherhood, while other participants, including Ijaz Alam and Sonia Asher, praised Reverend Abel’s contributions and pledged to continue supporting interfaith initiatives.

The ceremony concluded with special prayers led by Pastor Arif Siraj, Father Asif Sardar, Father Naqash, and Archbishop Marshall for Pakistan’s integrity and global peace. A special shield was presented to Professor Qadri in recognition of his election to the UNESCO Chair.
