Indonesian defence minister meets COAS Asim Munir at GHQ

RAWALPINDI, Jan 12, 2026: Lieutenant General Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin (Retd), Minister of Defence of the Republic of Indonesia, called on Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, at General Headquarters on Monday.

During the meeting, both sides discussed matters of mutual interest, evolving regional and global security challenges, and opportunities to further strengthen bilateral defence cooperation. Emphasis was placed on enhancing institutional linkages, expanding training collaboration and promoting defence industrial cooperation between Pakistan and Indonesia.

The Indonesian defence minister praised the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism. He also expressed Indonesia’s keen interest in further expanding defence ties with Pakistan across multiple areas.

The COAS reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to building a strong and enduring defence partnership with Indonesia, founded on shared values, mutual respect and aligned strategic interests.
