ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting, National Heritage and Culture Attaullah Tarar on Tuesday said that elements associated with digital terrorism will take strict action to track and target journalists through social media.

“An attempt was made to harm the children of journalists by sharing their family details and addresses,” the minister said at a press conference on Tuesday.

The Minister confirmed that the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior, will take strict action against those involved in the campaign against journalists.

He said that this malicious campaign was aimed at harming journalists and their families and the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) strongly condemned the harassment of journalists online. Threatening and targeting journalists and their families is highly condemned and no criminal will be spared, the minister said.

Insulting the PTI leaders, he said that he had left the party workers from D Chowk. He said the question arose as to why the PTI leaders had fled to the Blue Zone.

Attaullah Tarar said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and some of its ministers opposed the call for civil disobedience and said it was an honorable move. “For the first time in PTI, he prioritized the national interest over the interests of the party and workers”.

He said, the PTI leaders have sown the seeds of hatred and division in the country and now they are reaping the fruits of misunderstanding and disharmony among the PTI. Blasting PTI, the group said it has called for a boycott of Pakistani products when they spread and project a foreign agenda against national institutions.

Taking a dig at PTI, he said they are calling for boycott of Pakistani products, but they are talking about the massacre of Palestinians. Elaborating further, he said that when the All Party Conference on Palestine was held, PTI did not participate because it could not condemn Israel’s aggression.

Goldsmith said his family had instructed PTI not to participate in the Palestine Support Campaign. “PTI is pursuing a foreign agenda against Pakistan and its forces. Those who create discord between the army and the people want to weaken the country,” he said.

He said that if the army of a country is strong, the country is strong, and if the army is weak, the country is weak.

He said that the whole world recognizes that Pakistan Army is the most effective and professional organization. The minister wants to weaken the PTI army so that the lower forces can take advantage.

“They want chaos in the country and they want to spread anarchy in the country on May 9 and November 26, but they cannot escape from punishment,” the minister said.
