DUBAI: Indian fast bowler Kranti Gaud has been fined 10% of her match fee for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the Women’s Asia Cup final against Sri Lanka.
The incident occurred during the opening over of the final in Dubai after Gaud dismissed Sri Lankan opener Umesha Dilani. The Indian bowler was reported for making a gesture towards the pavilion following the dismissal.
According to the International Cricket Council (ICC), Gaud breached Article 2.5, which relates to conduct that could provoke a dismissed batter or involve inappropriate language, gestures or actions towards an opponent.
Gaud admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Supriya Rani Das, meaning no formal hearing was required.
India went on to defeat Sri Lanka by 72 runs in the final to claim a record eighth Women’s Asia Cup title.
Gaud took one wicket in the match and conceded eight runs.
