India A and Sri Lanka A players were involved in a heated exchange after Sri Lanka A won a tense Super Over finish in the Tri-Nation A Series match in Dambulla.
The incident drew attention after a video circulating on social media showed India A batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Sri Lanka A player Vishen Halambage in a physical confrontation following the match. Other players quickly intervened and separated them.
Sri Lanka A defeated India A after the one-day match ended in a tie at 265 runs each. In the Super Over, India A were unable to chase the target, giving Sri Lanka A a narrow victory.
The match had already seen moments of tension before the post-match exchange. India A captain Tilak Varma was reportedly involved in discussions with the umpires during the game over decisions made on the field.
Reports said Sri Lanka Cricket later imposed sanctions on some players involved in the incident. The Board of Control for Cricket in India also urged players to remain focused on the game and avoid distractions after the confrontation.
The match was played at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium as part of the Sri Lanka A-Team Tri-Series 2026.
