Islamabad – President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI) Sardar Tahir Mehmood has reaffirmed the Chamber’s commitment to resolving business challenges and promoting inclusive economic growth. He emphasized that ICCI is actively pursuing the development of a dedicated Industrial Zone for Islamabad, as existing industrial areas are overcrowded and unable to meet rising commercial demands.
Speaking to visiting delegations, Sardar Tahir Mehmood stated that inclusive economic growth depends not only on industrial expansion but also on empowering women entrepreneurs and youth-led startups. He noted that ICCI is in contact with the Punjab government to secure land near Islamabad for a new industrial estate, which would facilitate manufacturing, renewable energy, and technology sectors.
He shared these views during meetings with representatives from the Computer Hardware Association of Pakistan (CHAP), the Renewable Energy Association of Pakistan (REAP), the Pakistan Alternate Energy Association (PAEA), and the Bahria University Event Club.
A twenty-member delegation from CHAP, led by Chairman Khawar Idrees, congratulated the newly elected ICCI leadership. They highlighted key concerns related to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), customs duties, and taxation policies affecting the hardware sector. The ICCI President assured them of the Chamber’s support in addressing these regulatory hurdles.
Similarly, a joint delegation of REAP and PAEA, headed by Syed Usman Ali, discussed pressing issues in the renewable energy sector. They raised concerns over FBR raids and stressed the urgent need for a dedicated industrial estate to support clean energy businesses. Sardar Tahir Mehmood acknowledged their concerns and reiterated ICCI’s resolve to advocate for policy reforms and infrastructure support.
In another meeting, Bahria University Event Club President Duha Tanveer briefed the ICCI leadership on their upcoming three-day event titled “Women Leadership,” scheduled from 14 to 16 October 2025. She requested ICCI’s collaboration to promote women entrepreneurship and leadership development.
Sardar Tahir Mehmood praised the initiative and confirmed ICCI’s full support, calling it a meaningful step toward building future women leaders. He added that inclusive economic growth cannot be achieved without integrating women and youth into the mainstream economy.
Senior Vice President ICCI Tahir Ayub, Vice President Mohammad Irfan Chaudhry, executive members, and a large number of ICCI members attended the meetings.
