LAHORE: Pakistan wrestler Inam Butt’s explanation regarding his positive doping test has been accepted, with a two-month ban reportedly being proposed in the case.

According to sources, Butt told the relevant authorities that the banned substance detected in his test was used for the treatment of an eye condition and was not taken to enhance his strength or improve his sporting performance.

Sources said his explanation has been accepted, following which a two-month suspension is being proposed. The ban is expected to be applied retrospectively from April, according to the reports.

Asian Beach Games Medal Could Be Affected

Sources also said Butt could face the withdrawal of his silver medal from the Asian Beach Games, although he would be eligible to resume sporting activities after completing the proposed suspension.

Butt’s doping sample was collected during the Asian Beach Games held in China.

The case follows an earlier report that Butt had used medication for his eyesight but had not informed the relevant authorities about its use before the doping test.
