Discussing developments in the £190 million case, Senator Faisal Vawda predicted that Imran Khan was likely to be convicted in it. “While the data may change, the verdict will not,” he said. The senator also said the scandal would come to light on January 22 and warned that failure to address it could result in legal action and imprisonment for those involved. On a private television program, Vawda said: “I myself am part of this scandal. If it continues, we will challenge it legally. If the government tries to force it, it will have to face jail.” He also expressed doubts about the outcome of the talks between the government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and claimed that the talks, which are expected to gain momentum after January 20, may not yield positive results for the party. Criticizing PTI’s past decisions, Vawda highlighted the heroin case against Rana Sanaullah, calling it a “small and unjustified” step. “I was strongly opposed,” he said, adding that the party’s current tenure in government raises questions. Vawda concluded on a mixed note, expressing hope for Pakistan’s future while expressing concern over PTI’s trajectory. The £190 million verdict was adjourned for the third time A court on Monday adjourned yet another verdict in a £190m corruption case after two of the main accused, former prime minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi, failed to appear in court. It was the third time Islamabad Accountability Court Judge I Nasir Javed Rana had postponed the pronouncement of a key judgment reserved for December 18 – the first two adjournments took place on December 23 and January 6. As the proceedings began, the judge allowed members of the media to approach the stand. However, neither Imran nor his wife appeared in the courtroom. Later, Judge Rana noted that he arrived at court at 8:30 a.m., but neither Imran nor Bushra arrived until 10:30 a.m., despite court staff having informed the defendant’s counsel a day earlier that the verdict would be delivered on 13 January.
