Illegal Fishing in Panjkora River Is Punishable Under Law, Says Fisheries Officer

LOWER DIR: District Officer Fisheries Lower Dir Latifur Rehman has warned that illegal fishing in the Panjkora River is a punishable offence and said action will be taken against violators under the law.

Speaking to media representatives, Latifur Rehman said the protection of aquatic life is a shared responsibility and the public must avoid illegal fishing practices in the river.

He said fisheries is a profitable sector and should be promoted through legal and sustainable methods. He added that the Fisheries Department is working to provide awareness, guidance and technical support to local communities living along the Panjkora River.

Latifur Rehman said protecting fish and other aquatic species is important for environmental balance and local livelihoods. He stressed that public awareness is necessary to discourage illegal fishing and protect natural resources.

The district officer said the department has imposed restrictions on all forms of illegal hunting in the Panjkora River. He warned that the hunting of fish and other aquatic life in the river is prohibited and violators will face legal action.

He urged citizens to cooperate with the Fisheries Department and help protect living creatures in the river for future generations.
