CCP ensures fair trade and promotes competition advocacy, Dr. Kabir
Islamabad: Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMA Pakistan) in collaboration with Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) organized a seminar on Competitive Landscape in Pakistan at ICMAP Campus.
Corporate Finance Leaders, Costing and Cost Audit Experts, CFOs, legal practitioners, people from different regulatory bodies and general public attended the event.
The purpose of this seminar was to create awareness among the participants about the competition law in Pakistan. The Chairman CCP Dr. Kabir Ahmed Sidhu along with his team Ahmed Qadir, Dr. Ikram Ul Haq, Barrister Ambreen Abbassi, Marryum Pervaiz, Hafiz Naeem, Salman Zafar, Faiz Ur Rehman and Noman Ahmed apprised the participants about the role of CCP in addressing abusive trade practices, prohibited agreements, deceptive marketing practices, mergers & acquisitions, Cartelisation and Competition Advocacy. Chairman Islamabad Branch Council (IBC)of ICMAP, Mr. Muhammad Imran, FCMA highlighted the role of ICMAP in developing competitive market encompassing consumer and business friendly environment through Cost Audit and developing Pricing Framework in collaboration with CCP. The speakers from ICMAP included Rizwan Arshad, Haider Abbass and Muhammad Rizwan. The President ICMAP, Shehzad Ahmed Malik presented shields to the participants.
During the Question and Answer Session. Both the regulators agreed to have further collaboration in areas of research, investigations, advocacy, costing, mergers and acquisitions, whistle blowing, removing entry barriers to new entrants in market.
