Islamabad: Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari, President of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), and a delegation met with Vice Admiral (R) Asif Khaliq, Rector of Bahria University, to discuss potential collaboration between the two institutions to promote entrepreneurship and improve industrial competitiveness.
Vice Admiral (R) Asif Khaliq, Rector of Bahria University, updated the ICCI delegation on the institution’s initiatives. He stated that Bahria is aiming to develop today’s youngsters into tomorrow’s leaders. He stated that Bahria is creating an environment in which potential brains may collaborate, generate new ideas, and contribute significantly to the country’s economic success. He stated that while academics conducts cutting-edge research, industry faces numerous obstacles; thus, tight collaboration between Bahria and ICCI would aid in the resolution of industry concerns and the development of unique products for export.
He stated that Bahria is willing to collaborate with ICCI to mentor students and provide them with practical skills and experience that would boost their employability.
Speaking on the occasion, Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari, President of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, emphasized the importance of close academic-industry collaboration in addressing industrial issues and increasing industrial efficiency. He stated that colleges provide valuable research, and that tight collaboration between academia and industry will assist modify such research to meet industry demands. He stated that collaboration between academia and industry can lead to the commercialization of academic research, the promotion of inventions, and the acceleration of the country’s economic progress.
He stated that universities should play a role in developing IT specialists who can significantly contribute to the country’s IT exports.
Faad Waheed, Senior Vice President of ICCI, stated that ICCI and Bahria should collaborate to produce curricula and training programs that meet the demands of the industry.
