The International Cricket Council (ICC) has finalized the schedule for the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier, with the 10-team tournament set to be played from February 22 to March 23, 2027. The host nation for the qualifying event has yet to be announced.
The qualifiers will determine the final teams for the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia from October 4 to November 11, 2027 across 12 venues.
New qualification format
Under the ICC’s revised qualification system, the winner of the qualifier will earn direct entry to the 14-team World Cup.
The teams finishing second, third, and fourth will advance to a Super Series, where only one additional team will secure the final place in the World Cup.
Teams expected to compete
The qualifying tournament will feature 10 teams, including:
- The two lowest-ranked ICC Full Member nations.
- The top four teams from the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2.
- Four teams advancing through the Cricket World Cup Qualifier Play-off.
The final lineup will be confirmed once all qualifying competitions are completed.
West Indies’ qualification still uncertain
The West Indies have not yet secured direct qualification for the 2027 World Cup.
Currently ranked 10th in the ICC ODI rankings, the Caribbean side’s position could be influenced by the outcome of its two-match ODI series against India in September, which may prove crucial in determining whether it qualifies automatically or enters the qualification pathway.
