A tragic incident occurred in the Indian state of Karnataka, where a husband took his own life after his wife refused to withdraw her divorce petition.
According to Indian media reports, the incident took place in Bengaluru, where the man, unable to convince his wife to withdraw the divorce petition, set himself on fire outside her house.
The deceased, identified as Manjunath, was 39 years old and lived in the town of Kannegal. He owned a taxi and had been separated from his wife for two years due to marital issues. They had a 9-year-old son.
The couple had filed for divorce in court, and Manjunath went to his wife’s house, attempting to persuade her to take back the petition. However, she refused, citing the immense emotional distress she had endured.
Reports indicate that, in despair over her refusal, Manjunath poured petrol on himself in the corridor outside her home and set himself on fire. He tragically succumbed to his injuries.
According to Indian media, Manjunath’s parents have blamed his wife for his death, while the police have launched an investigation into every aspect of the case.
