It would not be wrong to say that the South Indian film industry has surpassed Bollywood in terms of popularity, whether it’s the film budget or box office business. South Indian films have ended Bollywood’s dominance.
It is generally believed that Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan, and Shah Rukh Khan are the highest-paid actors in Bollywood. However, in this race, South Indian actors have left Bollywood’s big names far behind.
Blockbuster films like Baahubali and Pushpa not only broke box office records but also saw their actors earning hefty paychecks.
According to Indian media reports, South Indian film industry’s famous superstar Allu Arjun has become the highest-paid actor in India.
A report by Track Tollywood claims that Allu Arjun was paid an astounding ₹300 crore for Pushpa 2. This amount is even higher than the budget of some Bollywood films.
The report also mentioned that previously, Rajinikanth was paid ₹250 crore for his film Jailer.
In comparison, Bollywood actors like Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan earn between ₹150 to ₹200 crore per film, including their share of the profits.
It is worth noting that the trailer of Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 was released on November 17, and within hours, the Telugu, Hindi, and Tamil versions of the trailer garnered millions of views on YouTube.
According to Indian media, Pushpa 2 will be released in theaters on December 5.
