Quran and Hadith, both have declared honey a rich source of nutrients and antioxidants. Having has antibacterial properties, and can play a role in diabetes management as part of a balanced diet.
Honey is a valuable foodstuff full of carbohydrates, enzymes, amino acids, organic acids, minerals, aromatic combinations, pigments, wax and pollens.
Honey is an important food referred to in Quran. In a way that in Nahl Sura, verse 69, we will read: “And healing for men is in it.”
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province is major honey producing region of country. Karak, Kohat, Swat and Bannu districts are particularly suitable for beekeeping and honey production. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has the capacity to produce a significant amount of honey, with some estimates stating it can produce over 30,000 metric tonnes of high-quality honey, including notable quantities of “Sidr” honey from the Beri tree in the Karak district alone.
This sector is a source of income and livelihood for about over one and a half million people of the province.
Honey is a great blessing of Almighty Allah which does not spoil even if it is kept for thousands of years. It increases immunity saving the humanity of diseases of different types.

Sidr (Beri or Ziziphus) Honey.
Orange Honey.
Eucalyptus Honey.
Sunflower Honey.
Multi-flora Himalayan Honey.
In Europe, most of the honey comes from Bulgaria. Manuka Honey of New Zealand is very expensive and has great demand worldwide.
However, the honey available in supermarkets of the Western countries is not pure. It is mixed with corn syrup, molasses, dextrose, etc. and it contains less honey and more of these additives.
