Punjab Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb has stated that the situation will be monitored until Wednesday, and if conditions do not improve, a complete lockdown will be imposed.
In a press conference, Maryam Aurangzeb announced that full lockdowns will be enforced in Lahore and Multan. Restaurants will only be allowed to serve food until 4 PM, after which only takeaway will be permitted.
She further said that a health emergency has been declared in Lahore and Multan, and outpatient departments (OPDs) in hospitals will operate until 8 PM. School holidays have been extended, and universities will also be closed. All brick kilns in Punjab will be shut down from today, and the furnace industry will be closed in Lahore and Multan. Additionally, construction activities will be suspended for a week.
Maryam Aurangzeb added that if conditions do not improve, a complete lockdown will be enforced on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The implementation of these measures will take place next week, depending on the situation.
She emphasized that in countries that have successfully tackled smog, citizens played a significant role. She urged people to stay home on weekends and highlighted the crucial role of actors, artists, and the media. Addressing critics, she appealed, “Please, unite against smog.”
