RAWALPINDI: A court has accepted for hearing the bail application of Zeeshan Arshad, an accused in the murder case of digital designer Hina Javed, and issued notices to the complainant party and the relevant station house officer.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Nasir Ahmed heard the bail application and adjourned further proceedings until September 19. The case has also drawn the court’s attention to the filing of two separate bail applications by different lawyers representing the same accused.
Court questions two separate vakalatnamas
During the proceedings, the court expressed displeasure over the submission of two separate bail applications on behalf of the accused.
The court questioned how two different vakalatnamas for the same accused could have been biometrically verified at Adiala Jail. It also sought clarification on how the accused was able to authorize two separate lawyers to file bail applications while in custody.
The court subsequently sought a response from Adiala Jail authorities regarding the matter.
Jail authorities asked to explain biometric verification
The two lawyers representing Zeeshan Arshad, Hamza Abbasi and Junaid Hassan, appeared before the court with their respective vakalatnamas.
According to the report, both lawyers produced documents bearing the accused’s signatures along with biometric verification from Adiala Jail.
The court issued a notice to the superintendent of Adiala Jail and directed the authorities to submit a report explaining how the two separate authorizations were processed.
The court will hear the accused’s bail application again on September 19.
