Punjab Government has formed a high-powered committee to review the investigation into the murder of Hina Javed in Rawalpindi, following concerns raised by her family over the handling of the case.
The committee, formed on the direction of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, will be headed by CCD chief Sohail Zafar Chattha. DIG Lahore Shoaib Khurram and SSP Investigation Rawalpindi Saifullah are also members of the committee.
Committee to Review Investigation
According to sources, the committee will visit Rawalpindi this week to conduct a fresh review of the investigation. It will inspect the crime scene and examine the evidence and investigative work completed so far.
The committee has also contacted Hina Javed’s family as part of its review.
Sources said Rawalpindi police have received forensic reports related to the case, including the final post-mortem report.
Hina Javed Murder Case
Hina Javed was killed at her home on August 21. A murder case was registered at the Civil Lines police station.
Her husband, Faisal Asghar, and domestic worker Zeeshan Arshad, who were nominated in the case, are currently on judicial remand at Adiala Jail.
Hina Javed’s family had expressed reservations about the Rawalpindi police investigation and also sent letters to the Parliamentary Caucus Committee and the National Commission for Human Rights seeking attention to the case.
