MARDAN (Khurshid Wahab)— Adviser to the Chief Minister on Health, Ahtisham Ali Advocate, has reaffirmed that improving healthcare services in KPK remains a top priority for the provincial government. He shared these remarks during a meeting with a delegation from the Mardan Press Club, led by President Muhammad Riaz Mayar and General Secretary Parveez Khan.

While addressing the delegation, Ahtisham Ali emphasized the media’s vital role in raising public concerns. He noted that the government values journalists’ contributions and is actively working to resolve their challenges. As part of this effort, he announced that journalists and their families will receive free medical treatment under the “Jundoon Card” scheme. Additionally, the government is considering a health allowance to further support media professionals.

Under the “Jundoon Card” initiative, patients will gain access to free treatment across designated facilities. The adviser confirmed that this program will soon expand to other districts, ensuring broader access to healthcare services in KPK, especially for underprivileged communities.

Moreover, Ahtisham Ali revealed that construction is underway at most Basic Health Units (BHUs) in Mardan district. The government has already released Rs 90 million for these projects. Funds have also been allocated to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Mardan, with millions available in its account. Swabi Hospital has received Rs 320 million for infrastructure upgrades.

He further stated that the provincial government is committed to enhancing healthcare services in KPK by upgrading hospital infrastructure, addressing staff shortages, and ensuring the availability of modern medical equipment. These steps, he said, are part of a broader mission to deliver quality healthcare to citizens across the province.

Ahtisham Ali concluded by affirming that revolutionary reforms in the health sector will bring lasting relief to the people of KPK. Through sustained investment and inclusive policies, the government aims to make healthcare more accessible, efficient, and equitable.
