Health Advisor to the Chief Minister, Ihtisham Ali, along with MPA Dawood Shah Afridi, DDAC Chairman Shafi Jan, MPA Muhammad Naeem Khan, DHO Kohat Fazal Maula, and Deputy Commissioner Abdul Akram, conducted a comprehensive visit to DHQ Hospital Kohat. The delegation inspected various departments including the Health Card Pharmacy, medicine store, emergency services, laboratory, and other sections of the hospital.
During the visit, the Health Advisor praised the efforts of Dr. Tahir Ali Shah, Medical Superintendent of DHQ Kohat, for ensuring the timely supply of medicines at the hospital.
The Health Advisor also announced the installation of a CT Scan and MRI machine at DHQ Kohat, scheduled to begin next week, and the opening of the ICU. He emphasized that these initiatives would significantly improve healthcare facilities for the people of Kohat and surrounding areas.
Following the DHQ hospital visit, the delegation traveled to the remote area of Shakardara to inspect the ongoing construction of a new building at the Rural Health Centre (RHC). The Health Advisor took a close look at the ongoing work and also reviewed the emergency medical supplies at the hospital. He instructed the DHO to ensure that medicines are readily available in all healthcare facilities in the district.
Addressing the need for better medical equipment, the Health Advisor confirmed that over 4,000 medical devices, currently stored in the department, would soon be allocated to hospitals through a re-appropriation process. This would address the equipment shortages in several hospitals.
In discussions with local community leaders, the Health Advisor acknowledged several concerns regarding the hospital’s functioning, including the need for uninterrupted power supply, the presence of female doctors, and ensuring medical staff availability during weekends. He assured the local leaders that immediate action would be taken to resolve these issues.
The delegation also visited the Type D Hospital in Lachi and Liaquat Memorial Women and Children Teaching Hospital, where they inspected the Gynecology, Laboratory, and OPD departments. During the visit, the Health Advisor announced that funds for the new building of Liaquat Memorial Hospital had been released, and construction would begin on Monday.
Furthermore, he instructed the DHO to ensure the immediate distribution of available medicines to all hospitals in the district.
Speaking with local journalists, the Health Advisor emphasized that under the special directives of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, the government is committed to providing quality healthcare services and ensuring the availability of medicines in all hospitals for the benefit of the public.
