Abbottabad: The Hazara Lawyers Action Committee has declared a complete boycott of court proceedings on February 8 and 10 in protest against the exclusion of the Hazara division in recent judicial appointments. The decision was made during a meeting held at the office of the President of the High Court Bar Association (HCBA), Abbottabad. The meeting was attended by members of the Lawyers Action Committee, representatives of the Pakistan Bar Council, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council, and the HCBA Cabinet. The strike is a response to the Judicial Commission of Pakistan’s (JCP) decision regarding judicial promotions in the Peshawar High Court, where no lawyers from the Hazara division were considered. Expressing their strong discontent, the legal fraternity of Hazara has announced that no lawyer will appear in any court across the division on Saturday, February 8, and Monday, February 10.
The Hazara Lawyers Action Committee has urged the authorities to ensure fair representation of the region in judicial appointments, emphasizing that continued neglect will lead to further protests.
