KARACHI, October 5, 2026: Pakistan’s young batter Hasan Nawaz has broken a record previously held by India’s star batter Virat Kohli during the Asian Games cricket final between the arch-rivals.
Although Pakistan lost the final against India, Hasan Nawaz’s explosive batting performance provided a major highlight for the Green Shirts.
The 24-year-old scored a rapid 96 off 51 balls, smashing five fours and seven sixes. He narrowly missed out on a maiden T20 century but produced one of the most impressive individual performances in a Pakistan-India T20 international.
Hasan’s innings saw him set a new record for the highest individual score in a Pakistan-India T20 international match.
The previous record was held by Virat Kohli, who scored an unbeaten 82 during the famous Pakistan-India clash at the 2022 T20 World Cup in Melbourne.
Hasan’s 96 also surpassed several other notable scores recorded in Pakistan-India T20 encounters, including Mohammad Rizwan’s unbeaten 79, Kohli’s unbeaten 78, Ishan Kishan’s 77 and Gautam Gambhir’s 75.
While Hasan could not guide Pakistan to victory or complete his century, his aggressive innings established his name in the record books of one of cricket’s biggest rivalries.
