Bandar Seri Begawan, Feb 8, 2026 — The “Harbors Tonight” cultural event was held in Bandar Seri Begawan on Saturday, bringing together artists, students, and community representatives to promote cultural exchange between Brunei and China’s Yunnan.

Organised as part of the 2026 Chinese New Year cultural celebrations in Brunei, the event aimed to deepen people-to-people links by showcasing traditional performances alongside handicrafts and specialty products from Yunnan. Organisers said the programme reflected growing cultural engagement between the two sides.

Visitors attended cultural performances and explored exhibition areas featuring Yunnan-made products, including coffee and traditional flower pastries. A coffee-tasting section drew particular interest, with staff introducing guests to different Yunnan-grown beans and brewing methods.

Local attendees said the display offered new insight into Yunnan’s coffee industry, noting similarities with Brunei’s long-standing café culture while highlighting distinct flavours and production styles.

Performances and community participation

The evening also featured performances by athletes from the Brunei Wushu Team, students from Chung Hua Middle School, and international students from Universiti Brunei Darussalam. Organisers described the performances as a key highlight of cultural exchange activities between China and Brunei this year.

The event was co-hosted by organisations from Brunei and Yunnan and attracted more than 100 invited guests from government, education, and cultural sectors, according to organisers. They said similar initiatives are expected to continue as part of broader cultural cooperation efforts.
