PESHAWAR: Hamza Foundation has introduced Cryoprecipitate (CP) and Cryo-Supernatant (CS) preparation at its facility in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, marking an expansion of specialized blood transfusion services in the province.
The development is aimed at improving access to specific blood components required for patients with certain clotting and medical conditions, while helping hospitals and doctors use blood products more efficiently.
Cryoprecipitate is prepared from donated plasma and contains concentrated clotting proteins, including fibrinogen and Factor VIII.
Compared with Fresh Frozen Plasma, or FFP, Cryoprecipitate provides selected clotting factors in a smaller volume, allowing patients to receive the required component without unnecessary plasma volume.
Cryo-Supernatant is the plasma that remains after Cryoprecipitate is removed. It may be used for specific medical conditions on the recommendation of qualified doctors.
Hamza Foundation said the addition of the two components reflects its efforts to improve blood transfusion services and expand the availability of specialized blood products for patients across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The foundation said it would continue strengthening blood component preparation and quality assurance systems to support hospitals, healthcare professionals and patients in the province.
