Islamabad: Hajj 2026 flights from Pakistan will begin on April 18, with the government finalising arrangements for 180,000 pilgrims and introducing a new Lahore route to improve travel access, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousuf said.

Speaking from Riyadh, the minister said preparations have been completed without any additional cost to pilgrims. Of the total quota, 120,000 pilgrims will travel under the government scheme, while 60,000 will perform Hajj through private operators, ensuring full utilisation of Pakistan’s allocation.

The development is significant for intending pilgrims across Pakistan, particularly in Punjab, as the new route is expected to ease travel and reduce logistical pressure on existing departure points.

New Lahore route to ease travel

The minister said the Lahore-to-Saudi Arabia route has been added this year alongside existing operations from other cities, which will continue as scheduled.

He noted that earlier operations largely connected Karachi and Islamabad, and the addition of Lahore is aimed at improving accessibility and convenience for a larger number of pilgrims.

Arrangements for flights, accommodation and services

Authorities have planned flight schedules, accommodation and transport services to ensure smooth operations throughout the pilgrimage. The Ministry of Religious Affairs is also coordinating with private Hajj operators to regulate services, including catering and lodging.

Officials said the focus remains on maintaining service standards, safety and timely arrangements for all pilgrims.

Pakistan-Saudi coordination and quota utilisation

The minister reaffirmed that Pakistan will fully utilise its Hajj quota this year. He also appreciated Saudi Arabia’s support and arrangements for Pakistani pilgrims.
