GUJRAT: A court in Gujrat has sentenced a man to life imprisonment and fined him Rs500,000 in a case involving the sexual assault of his 12-year-old daughter.
Additional Sessions Judge Shehbaz Iqbal Tarar handed down the sentence to the accused, identified as Saqib Amir Butt. The court ruled that he would face an additional six months in prison if he failed to pay the fine.
According to police sources, a case against the accused was registered in 2024 at Lari Adda Police Station on the complaint of his wife, Sidra Arshad.
Police said the accused had allegedly assaulted his daughter for six months before the case was registered.
The accused had been incarcerated at Gujrat Jail for the past 24 months, according to police sources.
The court’s ruling brings the case to a sentencing stage following the prosecution proceedings.
