ISLAMABAD: Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting Barrister Danyal Chaudhry said on Monday that the government remained committed to resolving political disputes through dialogue and reconciliation, while accusing PTI of deliberately undermining earlier negotiations.
Addressing a news conference alongside Prime Minister’s Coordinator Ikhtiar Wali Khan, Chaudhry said the government had invited PTI for talks in good faith and made repeated efforts to resolve political differences through a negotiated process.
He said several PTI representatives took part in the discussions, but claimed the party later sabotaged the process despite the government keeping the door open for dialogue.
Chaudhry said the government was prepared to engage all political forces and believed that disagreements should be addressed through democratic consultation rather than confrontation.
He also argued that PTI had lacked clear leadership on the question of negotiations, while the government had continued to demonstrate seriousness in pursuing talks.
The parliamentary secretary accused certain political elements of trying to mislead the public and promote division and hostility.
He said the government was willing to continue consultations with all stakeholders in the national interest, with a focus on political stability, national unity and democratic values.
Turning to the performance of the PTI government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Chaudhry said questions had persisted over governance, public-service delivery and law and order during the past 15 years.
He alleged that corruption remained widespread in the province and said improvements in basic services and administrative performance had fallen short of expectations.
Chaudhry said more than 2,000 terrorism incidents had taken place in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while over 72 personnel had lost their lives in terrorist attacks.
He said law enforcement personnel and civilians had made significant sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and called for coordinated national efforts to eliminate militancy and restore lasting peace and stability.
Chaudhry said the government remained ready to engage all sides despite political differences and would continue pursuing dialogue and consultation to address the country’s challenges.
