LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan has said that the government made an agreement with party leader Barrister Gohar and offered the release of the jailed former prime minister. Sangjani also reported the news on Sunday.
Speaking to the media outside the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Lahore on Saturday, Aleema said she attended three to four cases that day.
He expressed displeasure over the delay in the Jinnah House trial and said the trial had yet to begin.
According to him, the investigating officer admitted that the accused had joined the investigation for the first time. “We don’t want bail, we want the trial to start on May 9,” he said.
Further, Aleema accused the prosecution of lack of evidence and said, “It is ruining people’s lives. Even the police are not aware of our role in the October 5 incident.”
As for the November 24 demonstration, he said the government panicked when people started gathering. “The government summoned Barrister Gohar and ordered him to sit in Sangjani promising to release the PTI chief.”
Earlier, the ATC had heard a case against Aleema and others in connection with the May 9 incident. Chief Justice Arshad Javed presided over the proceedings.
Addressing the court, Aleema said, “We have been in court for the last one-and-a-half years. The judge was transferred, the bail was not approved and the investigating officer was not appearing at the beginning.”
Justice Javed questioned the delay in granting bail and said, “When I was transferred here, there were over 300 bail applications from PTI members; now the number has come down to 170. Many innocent people have returned home. they should.” Are we punishing the police for negligence?”
“This is a final warning to complete the police investigation and no date will be set for bail.”
Aleema said that when she and others were jailed on October 4, their names were linked in several incidents. “How do we get involved in this event?” asked.
Investigating officers have a reason to justify Aleema and others. The officer replied, “Employee fired.”
As a result, the ATC granted bail to Aleema Khan and other PTI members in the Jinnah House attack and similar incidents, and ordered the police to submit a comprehensive investigation report.
