In light of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) planned protest on November 24, the government is considering the partial suspension of internet and mobile phone services starting November 23.
According to sources, internet and mobile services are likely to be suspended in various districts of Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Punjab from November 23.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) will activate a firewall for mobile internet services starting November 22. Once activated, internet speed will slow down, making downloading on social media apps difficult.
Sources also stated that depending on the situation, internet and mobile services could be fully suspended in specific areas at any time.
