Taxila: Governor Punjab, Sardar Saleem Haider Khan, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to eco-friendly projects in Punjab aimed at improving public facilities, environmental sustainability, and community health. He said a clean and safe environment is a basic right of every citizen, and initiatives like the Dry Waste Management Project will strengthen the sanitation system, promote sustainable waste management, and enhance the quality of life in both rural and urban areas.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony held in Paswal, Taxila, the Governor noted that such environmental sustainability initiatives would not only help tackle pollution but also create green jobs in Pakistan by providing local employment opportunities. He added that the project would play a crucial role in addressing public health challenges linked to poor sanitation and waste disposal.
The event was attended by a large number of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) workers, civil society members, local residents, district officials, and party leaders including Malik Asif Mahmood, Raja Aijaz Gohar, Malik Najeeb-ur-Rehman Arshad, Malik Bashir, Arshad Kamal, and Syed Zia Hussain Shah. The project is being led by Chairperson Samira Gul and Managing Director Hamidullah Khan.
Governor Haider directed the local and district administration to ensure transparent implementation and long-term maintenance of the project so that the public can reap its full benefits. He emphasized that initiatives like these represent a step forward in building a healthier, cleaner, and greener Punjab.
