Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi chaired a consultation meeting between public sector universities and JazzCash on the digitalization and cash-free transition of financial operations at Governor House on Tuesday .
The meeting was attended by senior officials from JazzCash, including President Murtaza Ali, as well as registrars and finance officers from various public sector universities in the province.
During the meeting, JazzCash representatives provided a comprehensive briefing on the nationwide initiative to promote cash-free digital transactions, highlighting the seamless 24/7 transfer and receipt of funds across the country, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
JazzCash officials also discussed the integration of university financial processes such as scholarship payments, exam fees, staff salaries, and other financial matters through the digital platform.
The company outlined how universities could benefit from immediate digital fund transfers, simplifying financial management and ensuring transparency.
Moreover, JazzCash proposed including all universities in the JazzCash app, which would enable them to transfer and receive funds efficiently and in real time.
The meeting also shed light on JazzCash’s extensive network, with 19 million active users nationwide and 32,000 agents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa alone.
University representatives expressed interest in learning more about the digitalization process, seeking clarity on fund transfers, charges, profits, and other related procedures.
Governor Faisal Karim Kundi emphasized the importance of transparency and ease in financial matters, saying, “The world is rapidly transitioning to digitalization. The use of modern technology for fund transfers and payments has significantly simplified lives and created new opportunities for efficiency and transparency.”
The meeting concluded with an agreement to further explore and implement digital solutions that would streamline financial operations in the province’s public sector universities.
The session served as an advisory consultation aimed at facilitating the digital transition.
