Renowned political and social figure, Syed Akhtar Hussain Shah, has said in a recent statement that the Government of Pakistan’s decision to support Iran is a timely, principled, and courageous move.
In light of the ongoing tensions between Iran and Israel, Shah lauded Pakistan’s moral and diplomatic support for Iran as a commendable step rooted in regional solidarity and ethical foreign policy. “Iran is not only a fraternal neighboring country but also shares a deep ideological alignment with Pakistan,” he stated. Syed Akhtar Hussain Shah condemned Israel as an aggressive state that continues to destabilize the Muslim world, with the atrocities in Palestine serving as a stark example. He praised Iran’s resistance policy and its unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, emphasizing that at such a critical juncture, it was imperative for a nuclear Islamic country like Pakistan to adopt a firm and principled stance.
He further asserted that Pakistan’s foreign policy must be built upon the ideals of Muslim unity and the foundational ideology of Pakistan. He stressed that this support for Iran transcends geopolitics; it is a stance in favor of the oppressed and a call for global peace. Syed Akhtar Hussain Shah urged the Prime Minister, Foreign Minister, and other state institutions to further strengthen ties with Iran and play an effective role in promoting peace in the Middle East. He emphasized that Pakistan should actively counter the Israeli and Western narratives against Iran at the United Nations, the OIC, and other international platforms. “In times like these,” he concluded, “we must remember—if we do not stand with Iran today, there may be no one to stand with us tomorrow.”
