SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: In a significant development, the Lower South Waziristan District Headquarters in Wana inaugurated its first-ever Government General Bus Stand on Tuesday. The ceremony was attended by Assistant Commissioner Wana Faisal Ismail Khan, Tehsil Municipal Officer (TMO) Shahid Iqbal Khattak, and Tehsil Chairman Wana Moulana Saleh Wazir.
According to Assistant Commissioner Faisal Ismail Khan, the new bus stand is a long-awaited solution to the transportation woes of the local population. For a few decades, the people of Wana, Waziristan had been facing severe difficulties due to the absence of a general bus stand, resulting in exorbitant rent prices.
Faisal Khan assured that the construction of the bus stand would bring significant relief to the public and pave the way for strict action against illegal bus stands.
The bus stand’s construction process was transparent, with tenders published in national newspapers, said TMO Shahid Iqbal Khattak. He added that the establishment of legal bus stands at other local levels would be implemented soon. The Wana General Bus Stand boasts modern facilities, including separate waiting rooms for men and women, a mosque, bathroom, and bus stops connecting to various cities across the country.
TMO Khattak emphasized that the authorities would take all necessary measures to further improve the bus stand’s services, catering to the needs of the people. The initiative has been welcomed by the public, who see it as a crucial step towards the development of the area.
The inauguration of the Wana General Bus Stand marks a significant milestone in the region’s infrastructure development, promising to transform the transportation landscape and improve the lives of the local population.
