WAH CANTT: Former federal minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan has criticised the incumbent government over the country’s economic challenges and rising inflation, accusing the ruling leadership of ignoring public hardships while continuing what he described as extravagant spending.

Addressing a public gathering at the dera of Shahbaz Butt in Doolian village, Khan said the national economy was facing serious challenges and claimed that the rulers appeared disconnected from the difficulties confronting ordinary citizens.

Khan Questions Alleged Aircraft Purchase

Taking particular aim at the Punjab government, Khan alleged that an aircraft reportedly costing Rs12 billion had been purchased for Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

He described the alleged expenditure as an additional burden on a provincial government funded by taxpayers. The claim was made by Khan during his speech and has not been independently established in the material provided.

Khan said people were struggling to make ends meet amid rising prices, while the ruling elite continued to enjoy what he described as lavish protocol and spend public money on official travel and other expenses.

Former Minister Reaffirms Commitment to Public Service

Khan also reiterated his commitment to what he described as politics based on decency, integrity and public service.

He said he would continue serving the people despite political pressure and difficult circumstances.

“Our politics has always been based on decency and service to the people, and we will not abandon these principles at any cost,” he said, adding that he and his associates would continue to stand with the public and raise their concerns.

Former National Assembly member Mansoor Hayat Khan, Malik Azmat Mahmood and Malik Ayaz Mahmood also addressed the gathering.
