ISLAMABAD — Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has said Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi made more efforts than PTI workers to secure Imran Khan’s release, describing the minister’s role as active and sustained during a period of heightened political tension.

Speaking to the media, Gandapur stated that Naqvi took practical steps to push for dialogue over the former prime minister’s detention. He said the interior minister raised the matter with senior authorities and supported initiatives aimed at reducing political strain linked to Khan’s incarceration.

According to Gandapur, Naqvi encouraged the formation of a negotiation mechanism to address the issue through discussions rather than confrontation. He maintained that these efforts were made in an attempt to find a political way forward.

Imran Khan remains in custody in connection with multiple cases, and his detention continues to dominate Pakistan’s political landscape. In recent weeks, debate has intensified over his health condition, with PTI leaders raising concerns and calling for his release on medical and humanitarian grounds.
