RAWALPINDI — Security forces killed four suspected militants during an intelligence-based operation in Dera Ismail Khan district on February 23, according to a statement issued by the military’s media wing.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the operation was conducted after reports of the presence of members of a group it identified as “Fitna al Khwarij,” which it described as an Indian proxy. The development comes amid continued counterterrorism operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and adjoining regions.
According to the statement, troops engaged the militants’ location during the operation, resulting in an exchange of fire in which four suspects were killed.

Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the site. ISPR alleged that the individuals had been involved in multiple attacks in the area, though specific incidents were not detailed.
A follow-up search operation is underway to clear the area of any remaining militants.
The military said counterterrorism efforts under the National Action Plan, including the campaign referred to as “Azm-e-Istehkam,” will continue in coordination with law enforcement agencies to address what it described as foreign-sponsored militancy.
No casualties among security personnel were reported in the statement.
