Several former Pakistan cricketers and influential figures are reportedly making efforts to secure No Objection Certificates (NOCs) from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for players linked to the World Championship of Legends 2026.
According to sources cited in local media, the PCB has so far not granted NOCs to players associated with Pakistan Champions. The development comes days before the tournament is scheduled to begin in the United Arab Emirates on October 3.
The issue is linked to last year’s World Championship of Legends, when India Champions declined to play Pakistan Champions in two matches. Following the dispute, the PCB had stated that Pakistani players would not be permitted to participate in the event and that Pakistan’s name would not be used.
Recent reports indicate that a former cricketer associated with the PCB, along with several other influential figures, is trying to persuade the board to allow participation.
The PCB’s position, however, remains unchanged so far. The tournament’s official website continues to list Pakistan Champions among the seven participating teams and has scheduled a Pakistan-India Champions match for October 10 in Dubai.
The World Championship of Legends 2026 is scheduled to run from October 3 to 18 in the UAE.
