SWAT: Regional Sports Officer Hazratullah on Tuesday said active and well-maintained sports grounds contribute to healthier societies by promoting physical fitness, discipline and mental development among young people.
He made the remarks while addressing the opening ceremony of the Inter-House Annual Sports Gala 2026 at Khpal Kor Model School and College in Mingora, Swat. Hazratullah formally inaugurated the sports week by cutting the ribbon in the presence of students, teachers and school officials.
The regional sports officer said encouraging students to participate in sports alongside academic activities was essential for healthy youth development. He also praised the institution for promoting sporting culture and described it as a positive example for other educational institutions in the region.
Students participate in week-long competitions
According to organisers, students from Chacha Karim Bakhsh, Yousaf Shaheed and Nasim Aurangzeb Houses are participating in the week-long sports activities.
Competitions held on the opening day included hockey, table tennis, badminton and futsal, with students displaying discipline, teamwork and sportsmanship during the matches.
Hazratullah appreciated the enthusiasm shown by students and assured the institution that additional sports equipment would be provided in the future to support sporting activities.
Organisers said the Annual Sports Gala 2026 would continue throughout the week with more inter-house competitions and student participation.
