RAWALPINDI, PAKISTAN: Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) has achieved a major milestone in environmental sustainability and campus development, securing the No. 1 position among women’s universities in Pakistan in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2026.
According to the newly released rankings, which include 2,016 participating higher education institutions worldwide, FJWU ranked second among women’s universities globally and secured the No. 1 position among women’s institutions in the Setting and Infrastructure category.
The university also ranked 358th in Asia and 24th overall among public and private higher education institutions in Pakistan.
FJWU attributed its continued progress to its Sustainable Campus Initiatives, which have contributed to a steady improvement in its global ranking over recent years.
The university moved from 835th out of 1,183 institutions in 2023 to 734th in 2024 and 663rd in 2025. In the 2026 rankings, it climbed further to 612th globally among 2,016 participating universities.
The progress has been achieved under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Bushra Mirza (PoP, TI), with supervision from Prof. Dr. Bushra Yasmin, Director of the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC), and Ms. Nosheen Naz, Additional Director QEC and Focal Person for International Ranking.
The university said its recognition in the Setting and Infrastructure category reflects its efforts to develop a sustainable, resource-efficient and environmentally conscious campus environment for students and faculty.
FJWU’s leadership reaffirmed its commitment to advancing sustainable campus policies, environmentally friendly infrastructure and academic excellence, with the aim of further strengthening the university’s international standing.
