RAWALPINDI — A team from the Department of Law at Fatima Jinnah Women University has qualified for the international rounds of the 2026 Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition after securing fourth position in the national rounds held in Karachi.

The achievement places the university among the top teams in Pakistan and makes it the only public sector institution this year to advance to the global rounds, which are scheduled to take place in Washington, D.C. The competition is widely regarded as the world’s largest moot court contest, drawing participation from law schools across multiple jurisdictions.

The national rounds featured 33 universities from across the country. Over four days of proceedings, teams competed in preliminary rounds followed by knockout stages, including the Octa-Finals and Quarter-Finals. The FJWU team advanced through all stages to secure a top national ranking.

The team comprised Adeeba Rashed, Eman Nasrullah, Irmash Malik, Kainat Shabbir and Khushbakht Rashid. They were mentored by faculty coach Dr Munazza Razzaq and student coach Ms Rabia Ibrar Khan.

In a statement issued by the university, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Bushra Mirza congratulated the students and faculty, describing the qualification as a significant academic milestone for the institution and for public sector higher education in Pakistan.

By advancing to the international rounds, the students will now represent Pakistan at the global stage, where teams argue hypothetical disputes based on public international law before panels of judges.
