Security forces killed five militants during an intelligence-based operation in Lakki Marwat district on March 15, officials said, as Pakistan continues its counterterrorism campaign against armed groups operating in the region.
According to the military’s media wing, the operation was conducted after reports about the presence of militants associated with the banned group commonly referred to as Fitna al Khwarij. Troops engaged the suspected hideout during the operation, triggering an intense exchange of fire that resulted in the deaths of five militants.
Officials said weapons and ammunition were recovered from the militants, who were allegedly involved in several terrorist activities in the area.
Security forces have launched a sanitisation operation in the surrounding area to locate and eliminate any remaining militants.

Authorities said counterterrorism efforts will continue under the national campaign “Azm-e-Istehkam,” which was approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan to address militancy and strengthen internal security across the country.
