ISLAMABAD: On Monday, the nation launched its first-ever national polio vaccination campaign of 2024 with the goal of preventing paralytic polio in children.
Over 44.3 million children under the age of five will receive oral polio drops as part of the ongoing nationwide campaign. The five-day campaign, which runs until January 12, will take place.
The vaccination program will take place in Tank from January 15–21 and in DI Khan from January 22–28. Children in Lakki Marwat and South Waziristan Upper and Lower will receive vaccinations from January 15–19.
The vaccine will be delivered to children’s doorsteps by more than 400,000 vaccinators. There are 22.6 million children in Punjab, 10.3 million in Sindh, 7.5 million in KP, 2.6 million in Balochistan, 0.72 million in AJK, 0.28 million in GB, and 0.42 million in Islamabad who will receive vaccinations.

In order for their children to receive this crucial vaccination, parents should welcome vaccinators, according to Dr. Shahzad Baig, Coordinator of the National Emergency Operations Center for Polio Eradication.
“There is no treatment for polio. It’s a terrible illness that alters not just the lives of the individual children but also the family as a whole,” he stated.
Children can live up to their potential and be protected from this disease thanks to the polio vaccine. Therefore, I implore parents and caregivers across the nation to seize every chance to vaccinate their children against polio.”
