For the first time, a private school in Karachi has introduced an AI-powered teacher that not only answers students’ queries promptly but also familiarizes them with modern technology.

The Happy Palace School’s Asif Bhai Campus in Gulshan-e-Iqbal has launched its first AI robotic teacher, named Miss Aini, officially appointed on November 1.

Students learning from Miss Aini expressed their excitement, saying, “Whenever we ask her a question, she responds promptly, and attending robotic classes is a unique experience.” They added that they ask her questions in multiple languages, including Urdu, English, Sindhi, French, and others.

Engineer Hassan Siddiqui, the creator of the robotic teacher, shared that it took seven months to build. The robot was entirely designed and constructed locally, with materials such as fiber glass, plastic, and synthetic hair sourced from markets in Karachi.

Happy Palace School’s head, Muhammad Asif Khan, explained that introducing the AI teacher aims to equip students with technology to assist them in completing tasks across various subjects. He added that the robot’s features would be upgraded over time to maximize its benefits for students.

The school principal, Mrs. Siddiqui, claimed that this is Pakistan’s first AI teacher, employed with an official contract and a salary of one lakh rupees. Miss Aini is capable of answering in over 20 languages and relies solely on Wi-Fi for functioning.

Vice Principal Sadaf Bhatti stated that Miss Aini is a full-time teacher who does not require leaves, regardless of weather or holidays. Currently, she teaches seven subjects and cost over three lakh rupees to develop. She emphasized that while the AI teacher cannot replace human teachers, it serves as a valuable assistant to address students’ queries.

Plans are underway to further enhance the robot with motion detectors and sensors, enabling Miss Aini to blink, gesture, and respond to each student more effectively through physical movements.

The pilot project for the AI teacher began in March and was finalized in August, with formal AI classes commencing in November.
