Veteran actor Firdous Jamal has once again stated that superstar actress Mahira Khan is a heroine, while Humayun Saeed, known for his role in Jawani Phir Nahi Ani, is not a hero.
In a recent podcast, Firdous Jamal openly discussed various matters, including his previous criticism of Humayun Saeed and Mahira Khan. He clarified that he did not criticize them, but simply expressed his opinion.
Responding to a question, he argued that in Pakistan, heroes and heroines are generally considered to be younger. It is often believed that a heroine should be between 16 to 18 years old, with the maximum being 20. He questioned, “Is Mahira Khan a teenager? If not, then why is she being called and regarded as a heroine?”
Firdous Jamal emphasized that a heroine is someone who creates excitement in the hearts of young boys, which, according to him, does not happen when people see Mahira Khan. He described her as a mature woman with a higher age, and he wondered how she could captivate the audience. However, he acknowledged that older men might find her appealing.
Regarding her acting, Firdous Jamal said Mahira Khan may be a good actress with attractive features and talent, but he did not consider her to be a heroine.
Similarly, Firdous Jamal rejected the notion of Humayun Saeed being a hero, stating that a hero is typically someone who captivates the audience, and their attention remains fixed on them when they appear on screen. According to Jamal, this is not the case with Humayun Saeed.
He explained that a hero is usually younger and more innocent, but Humayun Saeed does not fit this description, which is why he does not consider him a hero. He argued that just as people cannot take their eyes off a young child, similarly, a hero should captivate the audience, which he believes is not the case with Humayun Saeed.
Firdous Jamal further suggested that both Mahira Khan and Humayun Saeed should play roles that align with their personalities and ages. He also emphasized that directors cast them because they need ‘stars.’
He stated that there is a difference between ‘stars’ and ‘actors.’ When directors cast stars, they don’t have to put in much effort, and the project is likely to succeed.
It is worth noting that Firdous Jamal has previously criticized Humayun Saeed and Mahira Khan, describing them as being of an age where they should be playing motherly roles, and suggesting that Humayun Saeed should no longer play the role of a hero.
Firdous Jamal has faced criticism for his remarks about Mahira Khan and Humayun Saeed.
